A Structural Approach to Community-level Social Influence Analysis—Online Supplementary Material

This page contains a supplementary material for my Ph.D. thesis. It consists of the following three parts:

The archive contains namely:

Please see the file 'readme.txt' in the archive for a more detailed description of the contents. The archive can be uncompressed by a Linux/UNIX command ``tar xJf thesis-sm.txz''.

The ArnetCite data can be downloaded also separately (316MB).

Motion Chart of Overall Importance/Dependence of Boards Communities

This chart presents the aggregate measures for Boards communities. Unlike our analysis presented in Chapter 4, we used a quarter-year time-window in this chart. Following are a few tips how to use the chart:

  1. Select the variables for x and y axes. By default, they are set to dependence and importance.
  2. Select the scaling of the axes. Linear ('Lin' next to the axis' variable) is default, but it can be changed to logarithmic ('Log').
  3. Please change 'Color' to 'Unique colors'.
  4. Press the 'Play' button and adjust the speed (to the right of the Play button) as you prefer.

Motion Chart of Overall In-/Out-flow and Introspection of the AI Communities

This chart presents the aggregate measures for the AI communities. Similarly to our analysis presented in Chapter 7, we used a four years time-window overlapping by three years, but we refer to each window only by the end year. Following are a few tips how to use the chart:

  1. Select the variables for x and y axes. By default, they are set to out-flow and introspection.
  2. Select the scaling of the axes. Linear ('Lin' next to the axis' variable) is default, but it can be changed to logarithmic ('Log').
  3. Please change 'Color' to 'Unique colors'.
  4. Please change 'Size' to 'size'.
  5. Press the 'Play' button and adjust the speed (to the right of the Play button) as you prefer.
